| Resumo: | To assess the importance of reconstructive surgery (r.s) in the control of leprosy from the public health point of view, the authors considered the problem of disabilities on a national and world-wide basis and reviewed the literature concerning the potentials and results of r.s in leprosy and its importance in the control of disease. It appeared that a praiseworthy and intelligent effort has been made by many surgeons to develop adequate techniques for restoring forms and functions of deformed face, hands and feet...(AU).
